Comments

When visitors leave comments, we collect data from the comment form, IP address, and browser user agent for spam detection. An anonymized hash from your email may be sent to the Gravatar service to check usage, and the Gravatar privacy policy is here: Automattic Privacy. Once approved, your profile picture will be public with your comment.

Media

Avoid uploading images with embedded location data (EXIF GPS). Visitors can download and extract location data from images.

Cookies

If you comment, you can opt to save your name, email, and website in cookies for convenience. These cookies last one year. A temporary cookie is set on the login page to check if your browser accepts cookies and is discarded when you close your browser. Login cookies last two days, screen options cookies last a year, and if you select “Remember Me,” your login persists for two weeks. If you log out, login cookies are removed. An additional cookie is saved when you edit or publish an article, indicating the post ID, expiring after one day.

Comments and their metadata are retained indefinitely for automatic approval of follow-up comments.
